"It's a Wonderful Life"
Our family had a great time being a part of "Miracle in Bedford Falls!" We felt so fortunate to be a part of such a meaningful experience with a great group of people and a supportive community! The play is based one of the greatest Christmas movies ever... "It's a Wonderful Life." What a timely message it holds. There is always hope. Even when things look impossible, God is at work.
I think everyone can relate to this message. Haven't we all felt hopeless at one time or another? This movie stirs up a lot of thoughts and feelings. (Guess that's why it's a best-selling Christmas movie, huh?!)
For some reason, when I hearken back to the time frame of this movie, (1940's) a song also comes to my mind.... "What a Wonderful World." This song holds a special place in my heart. I will forever have a memory ingrained in my mind every time I hear this song. Over fifteen years ago, I met a dear man and brought him home to meet my family. One of the first encounters he had with my extended family, included this song. All 16 of us were sitting in my Grandparents big den, fire roaring, each snuggled in a comfy place on the couch....watching a video that had been made for my Grandparents 50th Wedding Anniversary. The pictures took us way back to the 1940's when my Grandparents met and married and started a family of their own. And as the video took us on a journey of their life, that special song played in the background.
It was several years later before my husband told me what that moment had meant to him. He stood at the back of the room, tears in his eyes, soaking in a moment he says he will always remember. Pictures displaying a life of love, memories, and family. "What a wonderful world..."
It would prove to help shape our life together.
Just like in the movie, no life is picture perfect. Even in the best of circumstances, it is full of heartache, trials, despair and even hopelessness. But I am thankful, for family who led by example. You stick together when the going gets tough...and you rely on a God who promises to work in and through EVERY situation for our good when we love and trust Him. (Romans 8:28)
May we all take time to reflect on our 'wonderful life' this Christmas season and learn from George Bailey. Let's realize we have a special place in this world and take notice of the blessings that are right here before us!
Hope you all have a very Merry CHRISTmas!!!
Hadn't heard that great old classic in a while?

Yesterday during the children's service, the assistant minister asked "What does it mean when you hear a bell ring?" (when I ponder this question, I think of "An angel gets their wings").
ReplyDeleteYour nephew raised his hand and said "ORDER UP!!"
I've never heard the entire congregation laugh so hard and for so long. I felt sorry for the minister.
hahahahaha!!!
